I read Animal Legends. There are three stories in this book. Today, I want to review about The cat and the rat.

Now, rat and cat don’t get along with each other. But, long ago they were good friends. Long ago, they lived island together. They were so happy but always they were bored. One day, the rat had an idea. He told that look for somewhere to live. Cat was agreed. They made a raft and then go to sea. Rat rowed a raft and cat sleep. Rat feel hungry, he ate a raft. They got wet and swim to island. Cat was very angry. And then, cat chase rat.

This story is very funny. It is look like cartoon: Tom&Jerry!! It is so cute❤

Website is very convenient for study English. It is interesting that watch interest of websites. Internet websites are very useful for me. I want to review about three favorite websites. Before essay, I wrote about New Zealand website only. However, this time I want to write about other favorite website too. My favorite websites are written by Johnny Depp, SHONEN JUMP and New Zealand. These things are very interest for me.

First, I’ll talk about Johnny Depp. Everyone knows that he is very popular and famous actor. His masterpiece is PIRATES of the CARIBBEAN. This movie is so interesting. He played main character Captain Jack Sparrow. He was so cool!!

He was born in Kentucky on June 9th 1963. Surprisingly, he is 47 years old this year. But, he is popular among the young person to old person. He is a today’s top Hollywood actor. Website say when he was teenage, he pursue a career in rock and roll music. He was member of some bands. Among of his bands, the most famous band is The Kids.

Since then, he decided to try acting; it was suggestion from his wife. His first great hit movie was Edward Scissorhands(1990). My most favorite his movie is What’s Eating Gilbert Grape(1993). Please watch this movie at a once. I think he played many unique characters. There are some scandal about him, but now he has good relationship with French singer Venessa Paradis, relocating to Paris with his two children. Maybe, he is happy now.

Next website is SHONEN JUMP. Maybe everyone knows this name. SHONEN JUMP is most famous Japanese magazine. Recently, Japanese comics are very famous and popular all over the world. So, this website introduce about comics of SHONEN JUMP. Usually, I read comics in Japanese. But, this website was written in English. It was very interest for me.

Especially, I like ONEPIECE. Of course, in this website there is ONEPIECE site. It is interesting that read in English. I learn about how to say in English.

Last website is New Zealand. This year, I took the course of summer study abroad program. I planned to visit New Zealand. However, I couldn’t go there. Because of, Swine full. So many movies made a film in there. Website of New Zealand introduce about anything; culture, history, food and life and so on. This website’s English is easy to understand.

The main character is Alfie Briggs. He was a burglar, but he was a good man. Always he worked in the night. So his main meal in the day was breakfast. He loves breakfast. One day’s after work, he want to eat breakfast. He thought there was a cornflake in his house. But, there was not. He looked for a house. His breakfast were stolen by animals; cat, goat, fox and ants. After all, he went to a café and then he ate breakfast. Then he found job because, he didn’t want to burglar. He was become the Stop-A-Thief Detective Agency. He arrested a burglar. And then he ate breakfast with burglar.

To eat breakfast is very important for us. If I didn’t eat breakfast, I will sleepy all the day. I have to study so I should eat breakfast!!

MOTHITHUKI

Every year, I pound steamed rice into rice cake with my family. It was very important event for my family. Because of relatives, family and other people gathered in my house. We had a good time.

MOTHITHUKI is very interesting but so hard work. We have to pound again and again. So, we keep pound by turns. Recently, almost people use a MOTHITHUKI Machine. However we use a mortar and a mallet. MOCHI is very delicious and beautiful. I think that my house made MOCHI is most delicious!! We can eat hot MOCHI, so just finished. We ate MOCHI with soy sauce and laver, soybean flour and fermented soybeans. I love MOCHI!!

OSETHI&OZOUNI

The last day of the year, I cooked OSETHI and AZOUNI with my mother. I never cooked that. So, my mother thought me about anything. It was so interesting and I was enjoyed.

OSETHI is very convenient dish. We cooked OSETHI in December 31, and then we ate OSETHI in January 1. Mother don’t need make dish. She can enjoy and relax with family. OSETHI is very colorful and luxurious. We hope the safety of my family. OSETHI is auspicious. I filled an OSETHI box. I think it was good!! It was beautiful!!

OZOUNI is auspicious dish too. We ate OZOUNI in New Year’s Day. OZOUNI is a soup with Omochi and other vegetables and meats. I prepared with my mother. I don’t know how to cook and what seasoning used. My mother took some seasoning in soup. It was so fast. She looked so cool. I become like her!!

1. Introduction
Last year, I took Mrs. Tsutsui’s class to understand intercultural and I get to be interested in HAKA and Maori culture. Then I decided to look into Maori culture as theme of summer study abroad program.
2. In Kumamoto
① What the tribe of Maori is like?
Maori is aborigines who settled in the present of New Zealand first. It is about one thousand years ago that Maori came all the way from Hawaiki where their ancestors’ hometown is. Maori is “TANGATA WHENUA”, aborigines, and Maori culture is inseparable from live of New Zealand. Also, Maori culture is the cornerstone of New Zealand culture and it is an important part of New Zealand culture. New Zealand has a population of about 4,000,000 and fifteen percent of New Zealand is descended from Maori. “Maori” is a race that constitutes tribes. Land tribes are called “IWI” in Maori language. Maori culture is known to its abundance and variety from traditionally and modern ones.
Maori kept the ground of New Zealand to themselves until about two hundred years ago. Australia is a long way from New Zealand. Therefore Maori had nothing to do with other tribes, and both their own culture and life style developed. Immigrants who came from Europe between Maori broke out a lot of issues. And then, the issues made war, so Maori lost most of their grounds. Presently, the population of the Europe increased more than that of Maori. Maori had to change the traditional life in order to survive. However, Maori have lived as a tribe since then. Most of the unique culture of Maori has lived too. Now, Maori speaks English, wears the same clothes of a common New Zealander, and lives the kind of same

house as them. In spite of Maori having different convictions and faith, they are fully aware of having history and background.
② What Maori culture is like?
Maori grew crops, cut trees down for establishment a village and then they started to settle down. It is very important thing for Maori to be an owner of the ground and have whatever relationship, because they were a big pride of each tribe. As Maori made more progress with settling down, a sense of unity developed to nature; like the mountain and river in their ground. And then nature is consecrate. Farming is very important thing to them, because farming stabilizes their live. Occasionally, farming is an occasion for war. Ground is stand for power and dignity.
Maori was not a Christian. They had original religion about worship many gods and the spirit. The religion rule everyday life. What is particularly important is "TAPU". This word mean holy and forbidden so it's same as "taboo". The matter considered to "TAPU" was certain places, things, actions, sometimes humankinds. People followed a clergyman who is called "TOFUNGA", and they kept away from him. In addition to that, they treated him very carefully and respectful. Otherwise, they believed to be terrible unfortunates and misfortunes.
Same as the religion, art is an important part in the Maori live. Maori likes to decorate. They troubled and used techniques to produce everything carefully. Maoris' art style is peculiar to this part of New Zealand. Maori find various materials and then, them though of new techniques and designs. So, Maoris' art became unique. Sculpture is male work. Textiles are female work. Maoris' male made the most elaborate sculpture. Maori tattooed on their body. They like tattoo however they used a small chisel and they direct to chisel on them skin. This way was involves intense pain. Male tattooed more than female. They tattooed the hips and thigh too. Females made various articles how to knit and weave. They used the plants about grows in New Zealand naturally. Maori didn't know a metal, so they use "POUNAMU", this is a green stone and it is a kind of jade, they made arms and ornaments. These articles are precious of Maori.
When white mans and Europeans came to New Zealand for invasion, Maori protect their original tradition and conform to European social slowly.
③ How Maori culture is succeeded?
New Zealand has a well-received country because human relationships are very good. However, there are a few problems between New Zealander and Maori. They are trying hard to build good relationships each other.
There are many sightseeing areas of Maori in New Zealand. We can learn about Maoris’ culture. I want to introduce some sightseeing areas of Maori.

・ Ohinemutu Maori Village
・ Tamaki Maori Village
Almost areas are in the Rotorua.
WAKA for a ceremony which is a symbol of a tradition and a custom for each tribe of Maori are main attraction of public events. A meeting is held on February 6th when is WAITANGI DAY every year, WAKA for a ceremony are opened to the public.
HAKA is famous for rugby team and ALL BLACKS of New Zealand. Also, a national athletic meet is held once two years.
Maori is fully aware of our culture lost, they determine protect their culture. Consequently, “MAORITANGA” has heightened interest in the New Zealand society. “MAORITANGA” means “Maoris’ own way” and “characteristic of Maori”. This is the revive movement of the Maori culture.
3. Conclusion
Maori culture is very unique and interest. I think Maori culture is different from the idea which I had expected. I knew “HONGI” which is a Maoris’ greeting only. The cultures which I know thought this investigation was faith, art and sculpture. I was impressed with volition and endeavor of Maori to maintain their traditions. I got to want to go to New Zealand more and more.

REKIJYO BOOM

Do you know “History Girl” or “Rekijyo”? I want to talk about Rekijyo.

Recently, Rekijyo is a big boom in Japan. So many (young) women visited a castle, other historic spots and a grave. Rekijyo is a girl who likes and has interest about Japanese history. Especially, they like warlords. For example, especially famous warlords are Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura, Ishida mithunari and so on.

Why they like warlords and Japanese history?? Recently, people are called “Rekijyo”; almost they are affected by game or anime. Other few people are affected by books or TV. The most popular game among the Rekijyo is “SENGOKU BASARA”. May be, this game is very interesting. I cannot play game, but my young brother like play games. He played that game too. He looked so enjoy.

There are many famous warlords in this game; Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and so on. However, they are different from actual warlords. The characters are so unique!! In the game, they are so cool and beautiful. They are so unique fashion and have weapons look so strong.

Other game “SENGOKU MUSOU” is very popular too. This game looks like “SENGOKU BASARA”. These two games are already on the market from part1 to part3.

Popular comics are “GINTAMA”, “PIECE MAKER” and so on. These comics are very fanny and interesting and very popular among young people. So that two comics are broadcasting on TV. Please try to read!!

This year, a popular drama is broadcasted by NHK. Do you know what is it? That is “TENCHIJIN”. Many famous and popular actors play warlords.

These thing; game, comic books, TV drama put enthusiasm into the Rekijyo boom!! Now, many events of Japanese history hold each place. Rekijyo participate in these events and other many people visited there too. There is “TOEI KYOTO STUDIO PARK” in Kyoto. Few months ago, it held “太秦戦国祭り”(UZUMASA SENGOKU MATHURI) in there since 3 years ago. Rekijyo were dressing up like manga, anime or game characters. I want to review about especially popular warlords’ top3 in this event!!

With an outbreak of word “Rekijyo”, “YURUCHARA” is a big fad among Rekijyo all over Japan. For example, the most popular character is “HIKONYAN”.

I like Japanese history too!! I think this boom is interesting. “Rekijyo Boom” is a good thing to interest about Japanese history.

BR2-09:Story of the fairies

I read Story of the fairies. I think “Fairy in a flap” is the most interesting story.

The main character is Poppy. She is a perfect fairy. However, she cannot to fly. She consulted a friend and an owl.

Fairies were very cute. Poppy was poor, so this story was a sad story I think, but she can fly at the last. I was relieved.

I went to UENO with my aunt. UENO was very exciting place!! We took a train to UENO.

First, we went to UENO Park. UENO Park was very extensive and it has many famous places, for example, UENO ZOO, art museums, National Museum of Nature and Science, and so on. I saw street performances. We went to UENO ZOO. I was looking forward to meet a panda, but panda was dead. I was very sad. I met other many animals, lions, tigers, gorillas, owls, Japanese macaques, elephants, bears and so on. Animals were so cute!! Polar bears were popular, so I cannot meet. There were a lot of people. Surprisingly, there was Five-storied Pagoda in the Zoo. It was so beautiful!!

We worked in the park. There were some fountains and many trees. It was pleasantly cool this park. In spring, many cherry blossoms are in their full glory.

There was some bronze statue in the park; Saigou Takamori and Noguchi Hideyo. They were great persons of Japan. I was impressed, because I respect them.

Next, we went to National Museum of Nature and Science. The building was very beautiful. This museum was divided into two gallery; Global Gallery and Japan Gallery. I learned about many things, for example, history about electricity and a kind of rice. It was so interesting.

Finally, we went to AMEYOKO. AMEYOKO is famous street. We can buy many articles cheaply. It was interesting and amusing. There were some high-spirited gentleman’s. We bought a salted salmon roe, boiled and dried baby sardines and tuna. It was 80% off!! It was cheap and great!!! I was surprised. We bought KEBABU in AMEYOKO. I had KEBABU for the first time. It was great too. I bought a cute bag. This bag’s price was 410 yen!! I love AMEYOKO!!! My grandfather loves this street too.

I’ll go there again!!!

I read Christmas around the world. This story was very interesting, because of explain about how to people of all over the world spend Christmas day. I can learn. Christmas is very happy day, because children get many presents. I think interesting thing in this story. For example, there is different Santa Claus in the world. Children of Italian wait for La Befana. She is a kind, old witch. Other thing, I don’t know that there is St. Nicholas’s Day.

It is summer now, but I am looking forward to Christmas day!!

I read Clever Rabbit and the Lion. This story was very short.

Once upon a time, there was a big lion. He wants to eat small animals. The clever rabbit had a plan to help other animals. The clever rabbit said the lion “There is a great big lion, not you.” The lion went to a big liver with the rabbit to meet a great big lion. The lion looked the liver, other big lion looked too. The lion pounced on this lion. And then, he was drowning.

Many animals were saved, but lion was not. I think this story had difficult thing, because of lion can’t live to eat food. I thought about a food chain.

SHIBUYA is very famous place. There are 109, TSUTAYA, PARCO and so on. I went to PARCO. SHIBUYA PARCO was very large. There were many cute shops.

Next, I went back the station. I found a very cute hat!! I bought this. I was very happy!!! I want to go SHIBUYA again!!

Today’s dinner menu was Chinese tofu. It was easy to cook. It was light, but I have to get some exercise!!!

I took a train to HARAJUKU alone. I was nervous, but I was enjoyed!! I took a train in Tokyo for the first time. The train route of Tokyo is very difficult. It was very complex. There were many people on Tokyo Station. They were prompt. I think “What a big crowd!!” A train made up of eleven cars. I was surprised, because a train of Kumamoto made up of two cars. A train was so long.

Today, I got on the train at Kasai-rinkaikoen. This station is near TOKYO DISNEY RESORT. We can see there in the platform. It was so big and Cinderella Castle was very beautiful. It took me about 15 minutes to get Tokyo. The train was a little crowded. I changed to the Yamanote Line at Tokyo. Yamanote Line is very interesting. I accustomed myself to take a train.

First, I went to Takeshita Street. There was crowded too. I bought a pair of pants!! I really like it. It was on sale. It was 50% off, so it was a good deal. Takeshita Street has many interesting shops and individuality. I think Takeshita Street was international!!

Next, I went to Laforet HARAJUKU. This is shopping mall. It was very fashionable!! However, almost are expensive. I found a cute pants and a vest!! I bought that. It was reasonable. I was very happy!!

I went FOREVER 21 too. People lined up in front of the store. It was crowded. Surprisingly, it was very reasonable!! I think this store was like UNIQLO.

Finally, I went to MEIJI JINGU. I worshiped there. I became composed. It was very beautiful and cool. I want to go again.

HARAJUKU was very interesting and amusing place!!

I went to ODAIBA with my aunt for yesterday. ODAIBA is so amusing and interesting place. So, ODAIBA has many interesting places; shopping mall, an amusement park and FUZI TV station. Sometimes, the TV program is location in there. I think if I go to there, I can meet entertainers. However I cannot.

First, we went to VENUSFORT. This is entertainment shopping mall. VENUSFORT is so big and clean. There were many cute shops, but almost expensive. Because of it were big-name brands. Surprisingly, there are the fountain and the concert stage inside. The fountain is so beautiful. I like VENUSFORT!!

Next, we went to another shopping mall. This spots name is DECKS. There is DAIBA ITTYOUME SYOUTENGAI in DECKS. This place is very interesting too. It is recreate a postwar Japan. I was born in HEISEI. However, I can take back on it with nostalgia. We can buy cheap sweets and old toys. We found a KORORIN. This is a public bath’s pail. It was so cute. I told my aunt that I want to use this, but aunt said “NO!!”

Last, we went to FUZI TV station. There were many people. I could not settle down to sightseeing. The special events will be held through August 31, for example, a concert, games and special shops and so on. We can play the TV program set. When we went there, five girls were singing and dancing on the stage. Many people got were wildly excited. They were jumping and shake their hands. But I don’t know that who were five girls, maybe they are idol singers.

There is the Statue of Liberty in ODAIBA. This is a replica, but beautiful. The Statue of Liberty of ODAIBA is smaller than the genuine article.

ODAIBA was built in the sea. So, it is reclaimed land. It has beautiful scenery. My aunt said “The night view is the most beautiful in there!!” I want to see this view some day.

We planned to go the EXILE Bar in DECKS. I was looking forward to go there, but many people had lined up to go there. We gave up. I want to go too!!

We went to SHIODOME too. There is Japan TV station in SHIODOME.

I have learned four languages by now, and now I am studying language. So I want to review about my language learning stories.

Japanese is the first language that I learned, because of all I am a Japanese. Japanese is my mother tongue. So I use Japanese all the time. The people around me are Japanese speakers, may be I was learned Japanese from family, neighboring people and so on. However, my Japanese is not the standard language. I speak a Kumamoto dialect. My family are speaks this dialect. Sometimes, I cannot understand my grandmother’s speed. She speaks Kumamoto dialect too, but it is little different from mine. I think that language is very interesting. Grandmother’s dialect is old language. There is good communication between other old persons. When they talk, they look so happy. But she cannot understand language that use of young person. Language is changes all the time.

Now, we can always watch TV, listening radio or music and so on. When I was child, I always watch TV. Especially, I watched cartoons. Characters speak not Kumamoto dialect. May be they speaks a standard Japanese. It was different language for me. And my family always read books to me. So I like books very much. Always I had many books in my bag. I think these things were helped to learn Japanese. I can understand standard Japanese, but I cannot speak clearly.

I learned Japanese letters: Hiragana and Katakana from my family. A table of the Japanese syllable stick on the wall in my room. Everyday I was practice to write letters. And then, my family checked. It was interesting for me, but I don’t know why. When I entered elementary school, I take lessons at the calligraphy once a week. I learned how to write too.

When I was about ten years old, I was started to study English. There is a small English school in the neighborhood. I went to there with my brother. I learned the alphabet and simple conversation. Same time, it started the English class in my elementary school. However I cannot understand English. It was very difficult for me. Sometimes I took a conversation test of English in the English school. I spoke with a native speaker. I was so nervous in front of the native speaker that I had difficulty expressing my opinion. I was remembering that an interesting story about this test. The native teacher asked me, “Can you swim??” but I couldn’t understand and I couldn’t say anything. And then he spoke with gestures. He was very kind for me. In my junior high school days and high school days, I was studied English too. However, English was my weak point. Because of grammar is difficult to understand for me and I didn’t have a very large English vocabulary. I went to English school in junior high school too. So that English school’s teacher taught grammar and vocabulary for me. Now, I am English major. But I don’t use English frequently. I have to study more. The reason that I started study English is to live in the other country is my dream. I want to go various countries.

Last year, I took Korean class. I like Korean drama and Korean stars. I was fourteen years old, I visited Korea and I participated in a home stay program. So I thought I want to study Korean and then I want to write a letter for host family with Korean. Korean is very interesting language. It was little easy to understand for Japanese. Because that grammar similar to Japanese. Korean letter has very clearly rule. I was practice to conversation alone in my room.

I took Russian class too. The reason why I chose Russian that I thought the person who can understand Russian are not so many in Japan. Russian is interesting too but very difficult. There are the neuter gender, the masculine gender and the feminine gender in grammar. It was difficult to understand for me. So when I studied Russian, I can write only to memorize.

Language is very important and interesting. I want to study four languages more.

The main character is Jessy. One day, she heard a tiny voice. A fairy catches the spider web. Jessy helped this fairy. The fairy thanked Jessy and invited the party.

This story is mysterious. I believe fairy exists, so I want to meet fairy.

It was a beautiful and comfortable day!! I went to TOKYO DISNEY SEA on last Wednesday. I spent the most amusing and interesting time. I have been to there for twice. I went to there with my aunt. My aunt house is near the TOKYO DISNEY RESORT. We took a train to there and it took only about 10 minutes. I like movies of Disney. Especially, I like “Aladdin” and I love the Genie from Disney’s Aladdin character. He is very interesting. Mickey and his friends were very cute.

I rode many attractions; Storm Rider, Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull, Raging Spirits, Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage, The Magic Lamp Theater, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Tower of Terror etc. I was happy and enjoy, but there are many people, so I little feel sick.

We can meet Genie in “The Magic Lamp Theater”. I love this. Genie is so cute and amusing. I bought a pen and a towel there.

“Tower of Terror” is new attraction. It was so amusing. I cannot expression this attraction… I like this attraction, because I ever felt interesting sensation.

We saw the “Over the Waves”. This is a musical. It was very interesting, but it was a boiling hot. I got a tan. Dance and songs are so good. I was murmur “Wow” unconsciously.

“Summer time fun program” is hold in the TOKYO DISNEY SEA. We saw “The Legend of Mythica” and “Bon Fire Dance”. I enjoy “Bon Fire Dance” in particular. We can dance with Mickey and his pales. I got wildly excited!!

TOKYO DISNEY SEA has a very beautiful night view. Lost in admiration of the scenery, I saw a night view.

I enjoyed TOKYO DISNEY SEA!! I want to go there again. I think DISNEY RESORT has dream and this give us.

I read the Stories of GHOSTS. This is three stories about ghosts. Ghosts are very funny and cute. I think the third story, The tale of the haunted TV, is the most interesting. I want to review about this story.

One Saturday, Glen was watching the TV, but suddenly TV was broken. Glen’s parents called the repairman. And then there is very old TV. First, Glen is angry because that is not cartoon channel. But few minutes later, he is so happy. The man who on the screen, he is very funny!! He sing the song, try to the magic, but he could not well. Next day, suddenly he came through the screen!! Glen was so surprised.

We think ghosts are very scary, but these story’s ghosts not scary. Recently, there are many cute and funny ghosts, for example, Disney movie Monster’s Ink and so on.

If I meet a ghost I want to say “Hello!! Nice to meet you!!” because I was very scared.

The Scots people didn’t want to listen to Mary. They want to kill her. That’s all.
